BACKGROUND:We believe that no one would venture to be considered sane or claim to be complete and fully balanced. Probably what we mean by health is somewhat vague and fluctuating borders, especially nursing students doing internships in hospitals. Bureaucratic tasks cause stress among students and undergo a "reality shock" which produces imbalance between reality and expectations at the beginning of the studies and clinical practice. AIM:Learn the risk factors associated with mental health of nursing students; establish whether they predispose to burnout syndrome. METHODS:descriptive, cross-sectional quantitative study with a sample of 50 nursing students. One self-completed survey with sociodemographic data, health scale Goldberg and Maslach Burnout Inventory was used. The SPSS.23.0 program. data processing. Obtained permits the institution Ethics Committee and students.   RESULTS: 70% have sleepdisturbances, 15% with symptoms of anxiety and depression, 10% refers somatic symptoms, and 5% presented difficulties in interpersonal relationships. Data regarding Burnout; between 50% of students apears predisposition of "emotional exhaustion", 16% a high degree of "low personal accomplishment" and 30% of them report a high "depersonalization towards others." CONCLUSION: Students refer sleepdisorders related to difficulty sleeping, fatigue and nights without rest. Have emotional exhaustion accompanied by physical fatigue and frustration with problems relating to people and work and personal feelings of depersonalization predisposed to emotional hardening.
