The awareness of the complexity involving the childhood and adolescence has led to an important reflection on these subjects and to the development of an approach focused on the contributions of nursing within the multidisciplinary team. Additionally, this study is also intended, to provide useful guidelines for all professionals directly working with children and adolescents suffering from mental health disorders. The purpose of this study is to globally approach nursing interventions in this particular area of Psychiatry and identify the main mental health problems affecting the child and the adolescent. It is also our intention to address the current challenges on mental health nursing in what concerns the delivery of support and identify the main focus of attention in order to provide effective and targeted interventions to these group of persons.
