MOURA, Adaene et al. Factors associated with anxiety between basic attention professionals. Revista Portuguesa de Enfermagem de Saúde Mental [online]. 2018, n.19, pp.17-26. ISSN 1647-2160.  https://doi.org/10.19131/rpesm.0198.

BACKGROUND: Anxiety disorder affects about 3.6% of the population at some point in life, being more common in women, including disorders that share characteristics of excessive fear and anxiety and behavioral disorders. AIM: The aim of this research was to evaluate the presence of anxiety among professionals in the Family Health Strategy and the factors associated with the presence of anxiety. METHODS: Field research, descriptive, exploratory, quantitative, performed with 50 workers from six basic health care units. A semi-structured questionnaire and the use of the Beck Anxiety Inventory were used for data collection. The data were analyzed and presented through the use of descriptive statistics and through correlation analysis by contingency coefficient C. The research was ethically approved with number 515/705. RESULTS: The profile of the professionals was characterized by the female gender (94%), married (54%), with a mean age of 39 years. Anxiety was present among 30% of the workers. The factors associated with anxiety were difficulty in sleeping (C = 0.410, p = 0.004), work pressure (C = 0.422, p = 0.004) and anxiety in the last 12 months (C = 0.638; = 0.000). CONCLUSIONS: It was verified that the workers of the participating health units are exposed to factors that contributed to the emergence of anxiety. These results contribute to the need to develop strategies for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this disorder in order to improve the mental health of these workers, contributing to a better professional performance and success in their personal and social life.
