This paper examines artist Gerardo Delgado's innovations in his works from the years 1968-1972. The work he produced during that period requires the viewer's active participation, and this interplay is a driving force that leads to other connections in order to produce variations that were not intended by the artist during the creative process. Geometry, control and calculation (regarding proportions and color ranges) define the results which can be described as "open work".
