This article focuses on a specific body of work of Rui Chafes. In the Atlantic coast, in Sintra, he abandons sculptures. The only thing left of this act, are some black and white photographs of the sculptures in the landscape. The act itself has a stronger and perennial meaning: a black shadow, darker than the darkest black on the photographs.
