Abstract

ALBUQUERQUE, Isabel Ribeiro de. The Body as a privileged support of Ornament. Estúdio [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.9, pp.94-102. ISSN 1647-6158.

Through the work of several artists, this paper aims to demonstrate how the body has always been the privileged support of ornament and how body modification practices, which have existed for thousands of years, have been incorporated in contemporary jewelry, but with new approaches, which led to a redefinition of the jewelry concept and to a blurring of lines by shortening the field of non-jewelry.

Keywords : body; ephemeral jewelry; mark; skin.
