Abstract

This article discusses de role of art as political critique during the military regime at Brazil (1964-85). We will departure from the creative process of Raphael Samu for Universidade Federal de Espírito Santo (1974) and then we will search for the purposes and reflections of the artist on the political situation during those years. This study shows that, through a lyrical visual language, the artist uses a strateg y of political resistance that remained unseen by the political authorities and by the state censorship.
