Abstract

PEREIRA, Teresa Matos. Sacred and Profane in Paulo Kapela's work or the dialectic of Creation as artistic process. Estúdio [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.10, pp.20-27. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article proposes an approach to the work of Paulo Kapela (n.1947, Uige, Angola), considering its connections with an extended idea of religiosity and merging art and life. Assembling, in the same plane, a myriad of disparate objects and images, Kapela's installations interrogate definitions of Sacred and Profane, proposing a creative process that symbolically simulates Order and Chaos dialectic, where art creation confers to these fragments of reality a new temporality and existence.

Keywords : Religiosity; Angola; Creative Process; Installation; Sacred; Profane.
