Abstract

FRANCA, Cláudia. Listening and talking: about confession in ar twork 'Escuto Histórias de Amor' of Ana Teixeira. Estúdio [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.10, pp.141-148. ISSN 1647-6158.

Analysis of "Escuto Histórias de Amor", from Brazilian artist Ana Teixeira. She presented it in several cities of Brazil and abroad, from 2005 and 2012.With two chairs, a banner with the artwork's title and a knitted red cloak (a work in process), Teixeira outlined a territory at public space. Such composition "invited" anyone to sit down and to reveal secrets and his love stories to the artist. We understand this artwork as a kind of secular confessionary, built under the sun, by which Ana Teixeira features herself as a listening person. This analysis is based on thoughts of Michel Foucault about confession and Walter Benjamin's considerations about narration.

Keywords : contemporary art; confession; subjectivity.
