Abstract

CUNHA, Eduardo Figueiredo Vieira da. Ruth Sousa and the invented memory: Art as a promise of something better. Estúdio [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.11, pp.65-71. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article surveys the work of Ruth Sousa (Brazil, 1968) that, through the creation of a fictitious company aims to attempt desires. The text speaks about a link between art and desire, of photography and fiction and the insertion of other art practices in the real world. As a possible conclusion, we establish a relation of Sousa goals and a matter proposed by Jeff Wall that, reading Stendhal, face he art as a promise of something better.

Keywords : photography; fiction; desire; mimesis.
