Abstract

DE BARRIO DE MENDOZA, Mihaela Radulescu  and  GONZALES MENDIBURU, Rosa. Claudia Coca: the self-portrait of a society. Estúdio [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.16, pp.58-67. ISSN 1647-6158.

Claudia Coca, Peruvian visual artist and cultural activist, has made a critical self-portrait mirror of society. Through her life story has opened the doors to communicate with other stories of women and with the same story of the Peruvian 'mestizaje,' central concept of biological and/or cultural fusion in Latin America. In their art projects, the woman´s body refers to mestizaje, hybridity, transculturation. It has a history: the history of cultural and racialized identity in Latin America.

Keywords : Self-portrait; body; mestizaje; hybridity; transculturation.
