This article refers to the analysis of the photographic series "An x-rayed body is a body that hurts, even if in silence" of the visual artist and Brazilian researcher Sandra Maria Lucia Pereira Gonçalves through the guiding concept of"Genetic criticism", as explained by Cecília Almeida Salles in "Gesto Inacabado: Processo de Criação Artística" (2004).
