José Paiani Spaniol is an experienced lecturer at the Institute of Arts of the Paulista State University in São Paulo - Brazil, and has attracted our analytical interest precisely because of his role in the university environment at the frontiers between teaching and artistic research. It recognizes himself as an artist-researcher, elaborating formal processes based on an insistent search for a balance between academic productivity and expressive production.
