This text contextualizes and reflects on a series of contemporary paintings, performed between 2000 and 2010 by Carlos Zilio (RJ 1944), resulting from the anachronistic point of view that the artist throws on modern painting, with the purpose of discussing specific problems of the painting itself. It submits to its contemporary look, cultural experience and creative injunctions, certain plastic formulations and visual codes taken from the painting of the recent past, reallocating them transfigured in their screens. It distends and restructures the perception of time / memory, subverting the evolutionary line of artistic forms and the history of art itself, as proposed by the French philosopher Didi-Huberman.
