Abstract

DE BARRIO DE MENDOZA, Mihaela Radulescu  and  GONZALES MENDIBURU, Rosa. The narratives of the body in the work of Natalia Iguiñiz. Estúdio [online]. 2017, vol.8, n.18, pp.62-72. ISSN 1647-6158.

The paper focuses on a particular artistic practice: the narratives of the body in the work of Natalia Iguiñiz. The Peruvian visual artist and activist deconstructs and reconstructs the discourse of the archetypal body of women, from the senses of motherhood to the senses of their social status in Latin America, marked by discrimination, prejudice and violence. The references expose the collective memory while re-semantizing the gender codes with a critical and refreshing reading.

Keywords : narrative; body; discourse; reference; gender.
