Abstract

PEREIRA, Teresa Matos. Material culture, memory and identity in Josefina Guilisasti's work. Estúdio [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.21, pp.104-118. ISSN 1647-6158.

The text analyzes some projects of Josefina Gulisasti, a Chilean visual artist. Through still life painting or spaces of memory, the artist problematizes the connections between material culture, time, space and memory. These themes, considered "minor" by art history emerge as imagery realities able to summon technical, poetic, historical and ideological dimensions that configure painting as acritical space of reflection about past and present time.

Keywords : Material culture; memory; still life; museum; plunder.
