Abstract

PEREIRA, Teresa Matos. The Embroidered Skin, Body and tangible time in Ana Teresa Barboza work. Estúdio [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.22, pp.100-112. ISSN 1647-6158.

This paper presents an approach to the artistic career of Ana Teresa Barboza that since 2004 combines textile techniques of embroidery, crochet or weave with photography, drawing and installation. Deepening the links between fabric / skin, embroidery and body (understood in its biological, psychological, social and performative dimensions) or exploring the dichotomy between artificial structures (of manual manufacture) and the natural / organic structures the artist addresses a set of questions of genre, status as well as the time's inscription in artwork.

Keywords : Textile art; embroidery; body; time.
