Abstract

LOUREIRO, Domingos. Appropriation and simulacrum as strategy of artistic legitimation, a case study: Sandra Gamarra. Estúdio [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.23, pp.92-101. ISSN 1647-6158.

The article presents the way in which two morally questionable processes, the appropriation and the simulacrum, have been used by artists as abasis for their projects and, above all, as a strategy for artistic legitimation. In addition to making a framework of the themes in the artistic context, seeks to highlight its increasing use in recent authors, emphasizing a case study on the Peruvian author Sandra Gamarra(1972). It seeks to reflect on how the use of these processes is validated and legitimized in the context of artistic diffusion, and how definitions such as author, authorship, creation and originality are sustained.

Keywords : appropriation in art; simulacrum; authorship; art disclosure; LiMac.
