Abstract

SILVA, João Castro. Maria Lino: the sculpture as a way of life. Estúdio [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.23, pp.121-132. ISSN 1647-6158.

Nothing is born of emptiness. From more rational or more intuitive processes, the sculptures we produce refer to an objective reality that we learn as we become aware of what is around us, whether real models whether theoretical models born from the confrontation with a given reality. The sculpture of Maria Lino is a work that is developed from the inside to the outside and from the outside to the inside. Of an intrinsic relation with its forms, its personal poetics, and with the form and resistance that the matter grants to it. The relation between form and content, mental structure and physical structure. The agreement between Theme, Idea or Concept, and plastic language. The development of a three-dimensional language based on a mental assumption.

Keywords : sculpture; Maria Lino; wood.
