Abstract

PEREIRA, Cláudia Matos. The natural matter's poetics that transmutes in organicity: an ecological look of artist Semea Kemil. Estúdio [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.24, pp.132-145. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article presents the reflection of Brazilian plastic artist Semea Kemil. Through art, she brings a re-signification of natural matter, blending it with materials that she recycles and re-uses in her experiments and processes. Semea sensitizes herself to the idea of Nature's identity and acts as a symbolic mediator. Her metaphorical gaze shifts to matter discarded by man, which is reconfigured as the possibility of establishing a bond or rethinking Nature.

Keywords : Art and ecology; sculpture; natural material; image and culture; Semea Kemil.
