Abstract

GOMES, Paulo César Ribeiro. Dissonant voices: the geometric abstraction of Rose Lutzenberger. Estúdio [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.24, pp.168-176. ISSN 1647-6158.

Rose Lutzenberger (Porto Alegre, RS, 1929) is the author of a reference sculpture from the Barão de Santo Ângelo Pinacoteca collection (PBSA / UFRGS). In this essay we will briefly analyze her performance as a important artist in the introduction of geometric abstraction in the visual production of Rio Grande do Sul. We will analyze her artistic process as a sculptor and engraver, whose results can be synthesized by the sculpture in question: awork that is resulting from exceptional operations with industrial materials which, by eliminating any trace of craftsmanship, usually associated with the plastic arts, places it fully integrated in the language of national and international geometric abstraction.

Keywords : Rose Lutzenberger; sculpture; geometric abstraction; Pinacoteca Barão de Santo Ângelo.
