From the art works "Vaporización" (2001-2003) and "En el aire" (2002-2003) by Teresa Margolles, the sense of smell is assumed in this text as a guiding principle that materializes the death and erasure of the victims. The poetic operation is discussed as a scientific exercise, a deodorization process, which approximates Corbin's (1987) "olfactory revolution" of the "civilizing process" (Elias, 1993) to formalize contemporary social functions and their modes of exclusion.
