Abstract

LOPEZ-VILLAR, Rebeca. Witches and Surrealism elements in the sculptural work of Iria do Castelo. Estúdio [online]. 2019, vol.10, n.27, pp.20-29.  Epub Sep 30, 2019. ISSN 1647-6158.

The objective of this text is to elaborate an approach to the poetic language of the work of Iria do Castelo, taking into account witches and surrealism issues that arise from it. In this sense, reflection on the possible ritual readings that arise from the artistic use of elements such as hair will be essential. As a conclusion, we will try to verify that the polyhedral idea of the witch - along with others such as surrealism, magic, the carnival, the sinister, death - concur in the work of Iria do Castelo, and in what way it appears before the spectator.

Keywords : sculpture; ritual; witch; oneiric..
