Abstract

SENRA, Letícia Larin Platzeck. Rui Mourão's artistic discourses vis-à-visindigenous trends: the bodymanifesto in the multicultural dialogue. Estúdio [online]. 2019, vol.10, n.28, pp.83-91.  Epub Dec 31, 2019. ISSN 1647-6158.

In "The Huacas' Time", a project of Filipa Cordeiro and Rui Mourão, Amerindian notions are articulated in diverse contexts. The focus of the present article observes relations among some of these trends in consonance with paramount concepts of Mourão's body of work. Thereby, it detects strategies to constraint the structures of the artistic institution and of the reality, led by multicultural dialogue and the bodymanifesto's protagonism. In a redefinition of postcolonial societies' context, this utopian impetus is exemplary in contemporary art.

Keywords : postcolonial art; indigenism; body-manifesto; cultural activism.
