Abstract

CUNHA, Eduardo Vieira da. Amélia Brandelli and the absorption and transformation of drawing: a dialogue with plant life in “winter, almost winter”. Estúdio [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.29, pp.60-65.  Epub Mar 31, 2020. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article deals with Amelia Brandelli’s 2019 series of drawings, “Winter, almost winter”, where the Brazilian artist proposes a relationship between the look and the real, and about the nobility that has been lost by nature. In these plant drawings, she establishes a play of light and dark that bathes the foliage, and which seems analogous to the behavior of a sensitive plate, but which becomes transformed when manipulated in the drawing. The artist’s gesture translates as an attempt to break with the mourning of the image.

Keywords : drawing; spectrum; mourning; shadow.
