Abstract

SABINO, Isabel. Clara Menéres, woman-earth-alive. Estúdio [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.29, pp.76-87.  Epub Mar 31, 2020. ISSN 1647-6158.

The year 1977 is a special period of confluence of some of the central production lines of the Portuguese sculptor Clara Menéres (1943-2018). Between Portugal, France and Brazil, she adds the organization of the significant exhibition Portuguese Women Artists to the creation and show of her breathtaking works as an artist and as a woman aware of her condition in culture and nature. The text Ce sexe qui n’en est pas un, by Luce Irigaray, also published this year in Paris, allows us to establish a crossed perspective between Clara, extending to a connection to the earth, to the planet, centered on the work Mulher-Terra-Viva.

Keywords : Clara Menéres; Luce Irigaray; feminism; nature; earth.
