Abstract

PENEDOS-SANTIAGO, Eliana  and  MARTINS, Nuno Duarte. Curiosity and unquietness: the bridge between dictatorship and freedom in the work of João Nunes. Estúdio [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.31, pp.62-70.  Epub Sep 30, 2020. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article stems from the analysis of the life and work of the designer João Nunes developed out of an interview conducted at his home and studio in Serra de Arga, in January 2019. We aim to find cross points between his work and the social and political context of his personal and professional background and to what extent his experience as a designer in the army, during a period of dictatorship and his academic graduation in a post revolution period, do reflect the activist and socially responsible personality we know today.

Keywords : João Nunes; Design Activism; Craft Design; Life Story.
