This reflection on the scultural work of Maria Palmela, Duchess of Palmela, artist and meritorious of the XIX century, aims to analyse the processes of execution used by the sculptor. In her sculpture are explicit the choice for human representation and the materials she uses, marble and bronze. We investigate in this approach, diferent ways of working the stone: the indiret carving and the diret carving.We will also present other plastic solutions in portrait mode,resulting from the processes used.
