Abstract

RAMON, Ricard  and  ALONSO-SANZ, Amparo. The ephemeral, social and didactic art of Anna Ruiz. Estúdio [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.32, pp.129-138.  Epub Dec 31, 2020. ISSN 1647-6158.

We choose for our contribution a contemporary Valencian artist, Anna Ruiz Sospedra. She is a Fallas builder. The Fallas are a type of artistic work conceived for the public space that are burned on March 19 as part of a festivity declared World Heritage by UNESCO. In this case, a type of ephemeral work, that addresses social and political issues from a feminist perspective. From an unusual aesthetics and approaches, for this type of artistic installations that are so traditional, she also generates a sensitive and reflective thought in the public. Anna represents a cultural transgression in an artist’s position dominated by masculinities.

Keywords : ephemeral art; fallas; artistic education; sculpture; women artists.
