Abstract

PLANAS, Joaquim Cantalozella. Carlos Velilla, the transparency of the gesture. Estúdio [online]. 2021, vol.12, n.33, pp.55-63.  Epub Mar 31, 2021. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article examines the most recent works by Carlos Velilla (Zaragoza, 1950), which reveal a form of painting that is clearly rooted in the discourses of abstraction but is nourished indistinctly by photography, film, and literature. These features bring to the fore some unexpected relationships regarding the ways in which painting is understood, and regarding the act of painting itself, as they highlight questions about what we see, what we perceive, and what remains hidden.

Keywords : Painting; photography; cinema; literature.
