Abstract

MADRID, María Paula Santiago Martín de. City and silence in the images of Sergio Belinchón. Read the generic landscape. Estúdio [online]. 2021, vol.12, n.33, pp.93-105.  Epub Mar 31, 2021. ISSN 1647-6158.

This text focuses on various projects carried out by the photographer Sergio Belinchón (Valencia, 1971) in which the artist reveals some of the characteristics of contemporary urban environments. In this regard, the images derived from his work assume a critical sense of the power exercised by homogenization and the generic. A homogenization that not only affects the gaze, culture or consumption, but also experiential aspects that directly affect our way of understanding cities and environments, as well as our way of inhabiting them and relating to them.

Keywords : Photography; city; urban space; art; architecture; landscape.
