Abstract

LOPES, Almerinda da Silva. Augusto Herkenhoff's landscapes cariocas: between the reinvention and the incongruity. Estúdio [online]. 2021, vol.12, n.34, pp.177-188.  Epub June 30, 2021. ISSN 1647-6158.

This text reflects on the series of paintings called Landscapes Cariocas, works here understood as poetic, cultural and timeless representations. The series was produced by the artist from Espírito Santo based in Rio de Janeiro, Augusto Herkenhoff (1965), over the last decade, but landscape and ecological concern have been present in his pictorial work since he started his creative career in the 1980s, when he and other young people of the generation that then emerged, recovered the pleasure of painting on large supports, using vigorous brushstrokes and orchestral colors.

Keywords : Landscape; Augusto Herkenhoff; Anachronism; Timelessness.
