Abstract

DAVILA-RUBIO, Andrea. Limiting, containing and protecting: three basic functions of skin and their representation in Nora Aurrekoetxea's sculpture. Estúdio [online]. 2021, vol.12, n.35, pp.118-128.  Epub Sep 30, 2021. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article examines some of the artworks of the contemporary artist Nora Aurrekoetxea in relation to psychoanalytical and philosophical texts regarding the centrality of skin and touch in the construction of identity and intimate social relations. Throughout different sections, we will observe how erotic desire is dependent on the interstice between lover and loved one and provokes a violent crisis between frontiers for which protection becomes necessary.

Keywords : sculpture; skin; intimacy.
