Abstract

SOUZA, Marise Berta de. A cinema made of love. Estúdio [online]. 2021, vol.12, n.35, pp.168-176.  Epub Sep 30, 2021. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article addresses the documentary Cinema de Amor (2019), directed by Edson Bastos and Henrique Filho, which guide the creative documentary act in a hybrid model between fiction and documentary. "Cinema de Amor" uses a cell phone as a means of self-representation to portray and expose the routine of a couple of directors, protagonists of their own daily lives, in which, in the form of an intimate diary, they reflect the context of Brazilian cinema production in times of budget cuts for film and audiovisual in the public sector and proliferation of hate speech for LGBTQ+ communities, which makes the film an opportune historical record of a period.

Keywords : Cinema de Amor; documentary; selfiemantaries; autobiography and performance.
