The solidarity economy can be defined as a fairer economy that highlights the individual and the group, and based on self-help/management introduces new social and productive relations. This article discusses the Brazilian public policies in solidarity economy as a possibility to improve the general living conditions of the population and reducing regional inequalities. Highlights the importance of the territorial dimension as the focus of solidarity economy analysis, from the moment in which productive activities are now integrated the capabilities of the various communities, valuing cultural diversity, local identity and everyday experiences.
