Abstract

PAULO, Filipe. Politic, culture and space. GOT [online]. 2017, n.12, pp.281-293. ISSN 2182-1267.  https://doi.org/10.17127/got/2017.12.012.

This text continues the studies on symbolic spatial forms, seeking to bring to the surface other symbolic forms and other contexts. This consolidates the theme, denoting at the same time its importance in geographic analysis. Spatial symbolic forms constitute created and recreated representations, objects of celebration and contestation, effectively inserted into spatial organization. They play an active role in society, and can be considered as reflexes, means and social conditions. In this work, the relations between cultural geography, politics and meanings are discussed first and very briefly, following three parts in which the relations toponymy and politics, monuments, politics and identity are approached, and finally the places of political density.

Keywords : espace; politics; urban; density.
