Abstract

NUNO, David. The landscape in the Municipal Directors Plans: a methodological approach to the identification and characterization of landscape units in the municipality of Oeiras. GOT [online]. 2018, n.13, pp.125-146. ISSN 2182-1267.  https://doi.org/10.17127/got/2018.13.006.

Landscape studies has become a task required by the central administration, namely the incorporation of the European Landscape Convention principles into the Municipal Master Plans, which are currently under review in many Portuguese municipalities. Taking the municipality of Oeiras as a case study, a methodology is proposed for identification and characterization of landscape units, through an exploratory approach that combines multivariate statistics and geographic information systems. The results highlight the importance of probabilistic models to generate alternatives, and to stimulate the participation of local actors, especially regarding the importance of constructing and discussing alternatives in planning.

Keywords : Landscape units; probabilistic models; participation.
