The use of walking in the city is approached as a dynamic practice, paradigmatic of the transformation of the social and territorial European city. Although each city is unique, it is intended in this study to address global directions of the walking pratice evolution in the city, with emphasis on the evolution of the meaning of the walking practice. Finally, we focus on the importance of this, in the contemporary society.
