NETO, Inocencio; XAVIER, Rafael and CUNHA, Lúcio. Geomorphological Heritage of the municipality of Gurjão, semi-arid region of Paraíba, Brazil. GOT [online]. 2020, n.19, pp.235-261. ISSN 2182-1267. https://doi.org/10.17127/got/2020.19.010.
The debates regarding natural heritage are originated with the need to preserve the natural elements (biotic and abiotic), correlated with the sustainable use of natural resources. The present work aims to identify, describe and evaluate the geomorphological heritage, to map the geomorphosites, and to suggest geotouristic possibilities for the municipality of Gurjão, semi-arid region of Paraíba, Brazil. The methodological procedures were based on literature review, field visits with the help of the geomorphological heritage valuation form proposed by Vieira (2014), GPS, camera and ArcGIS software. Four geomorphosites were valued, namely: Pascacio Stone (G1), Hacksaw of the Cotton (G2), Desert Beach (G3) and Turtle Stone (G4). The values calculated for the entire municipality of Gurjão were: 0,6 for the intrinsic (scientific) value; 0,32 for the additional value and 0,47 for the use and management value, they show the need to invest in conservation practices.
