RIBEIRO, Ana Paula Lustosa; VANZELA, Luiz Sergio; TAGLIAFERRO, Evandro Roberto  y  MANSANO, Cleber Fernando Menegasso. MITIGATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMPENSATION ACTIONS FOR THE IMPACTS CAUSED BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF BR-242/TO. GOT [online]. 2022, n.24, pp.44-80.  Epub 31-Dic-2022. ISSN 2182-1267.  https://doi.org/10.17127/got/2022.24.003.

The road network in Tocantins is of fundamental importance for the development of productive and expansion activities in the state. The BR-242 / TO highway that will be the object of this research is located in the southeast of the State of Tocantins, and will interconnect and serve three states of the Brazilian federation, Bahia, Tocantins and Mato Grosso, with an extension of 262 km, passing through the municipalities from Taguatinga, Paranã and Peixe. The objective of this study is to describe and evaluate the environmental compensation actions of the impacts on fauna, flora and water resources, originated from the implementation of the highway (BR-242/TO). The results of the Vegetation Suppression and Flora Rescue report were used; the results of the Wildlife Removal and Rescue report; and the report of the Water Bodies Monitoring Program produced between the years 2016 and 2019 within the scope of the execution of environmental management services for the construction works of the BR-242 / TO highway. The environmental management implemented in the construction of the highway has brought positive results with its programs for rescuing fauna, flora, collecting seeds and collecting water samples from rivers to analyze water quality. The mitigation and compensation measures implemented before, during and after the work, can drastically reduce the environmental impacts to the environment, resulting in environmental sustainability to the work, gains for the environment and for the communities surrounding the built enterprise.
