Resumen

PAULA, Eunice. Os crescidos vão para o colo dos crescidos …é só os crescidos!: Direitos de Participação das Crianças em Centros de Acolhimento Temporário. Invest. Práticas [online]. 2016, vol.6, n.1, pp.110-131. ISSN 2182-1372.

This article started from the question «What are the little children’s experiences and participation and what are the social representations of adults and children regarding little children? », in Temporary Foster Homes (TFH). This research is of a qualitative nature and, in fact, adopts an ethnographic nature. It tries to create a dialogue between two fields of knowledge: childcare and sociology of childhood. The research methodologies used were interviews for the oldest children; quizzes and focus groups for the adults; and, mainly, observation for the babies. With this research we can conclude that babies (from 0 to 2 years old) that live in two TFH located in the district of Lisbon seem to remain in their social invisibility, without being granted any right to participation. This is due to the fact that there isn’t a pedagogic (participatory) model in practice in this context with these children and that the representations and children’s image is still based on perspective declaring it as a passive, incompetent and unable being.

Palabras clave : Babies’ participation; Institutional Fostering; Children’s Rights.
