Resumen

RIBEIRO, Cristiana  y  MESQUITA, Cristina. Influence of the media on pupils’ eating choices. Invest. Práticas [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.1, pp.81-89. ISSN 2182-1372.  https://doi.org/10.25757/invep.v9i1.169.

Literature has highlighted the importance of education in inhibiting unhealthy eating habits. However, studies that consider the contribution of teachers' actions to changing the conceptions and eating habits of pupils and their families are scarce. Considering the time pupils spend in a school, it is essential that the context provides reflective environments, raising awareness so that pupils can adopt healthy lifestyles and eating habits. The main objective of this research was to understand the influence of the media on the pupils' food choices, and later develop educational strategies that promote healthy eating habits. This study was carried out during the internship with a group from the 1st year of basic education, aged between 6 and 7 years old. Considering the nature, development and its implications, the present study follows a quantitative and qualitative perspective in the collection and analysis of the data, collected from a questionnaire destined to the parents, observations, field notes (taken before, during and after the development of learning experiences) and also from the work produced by pupils. The learning experiences value the dialogue and the active listening to stimulate the student to reflect on the issues related to the theme. It is observed that both pupils and their families are influenced by advertising and marketing strategies. Through discussion and reflection, these pupils seem to have become aware of the effects of advertising and the importance of reflecting on what is being advertised.

Palabras clave : influence of the media; eating habits; active listening; dialogue.
