Resumen

SILVA, Maria João; VALENTE, Bianor  y  CASEIRO, Ana. Eco-sensors as didactic tools for participation in environmental health in schools. Invest. Práticas [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.1, pp.129-139. ISSN 2182-1372.  https://doi.org/10.25757/invep.v9i1.170.

The central goal of this workshop is to involve the participants in the use of eco-sensors, as didactic tools, to participate in environmental health. It is intended to present the potential of two eco-sensors for the acquisition of environmental information and to increase awareness for the role that environmental information can play in teachers’ and students’ decision-making, regarding environment and consequently environmental health. In the last decade, the use of sensors, specifically the sensors integrated in mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, became daily, and ubiquitous (Sagl & Resch, 2015). This way, citizens acquire environmental information and publish it in diverse environments, such as social networks, platforms of voluntary geographical information projects, citizen science projects, creating knowledge that influence social, political, and scientific decisions (Boulos, et al., 2011). In this workshop, the participants will be invited to use eco-sensors in the school environment, together with smartphones and tablets, to acquire information related to environmental health problems. This information will be used as a basis for the creation of solutions for these problems, linking everyday activities to the environmental quality and to the environmental health of schools. It will be presented a reflection on the developed activities, the created knowledge and the potential for children and teachers participation in the environmental health of schools.

Palabras clave : sensors; environmental health; children; participation; sound; temperature; light.
