Abstract

LOPES, Ana Sofia  and  MORGADO, Celda. Grammatical gender in nouns: from normative documents to portuguese teaching textbooks in primary education. Invest. Práticas [online]. 2020, vol.10, n.1, pp.62-77. ISSN 2182-1372.  https://doi.org/10.25757/invep.v10i1.201.

Gender, such as language formalism and concordance, exists only in languages that have nominal agreement, such as European Portuguese (EP). This category in the EP corresponds to an inherent property of the names and the phonological, morphological and syntactic processes underlying the variation in gender in the names are multiple. In this exploratory study it was sought to find out how the nominal category treatment mentioned above is recommended in the Portuguese Teaching Documents in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education (CEB) and to investigate how it is presented scientifically and pedagogically proposed in school textbooks from the 1st to the 4th years.

Keywords : Grammar; teaching; Gender; Name; Morphosyntactic processes; Phonological processes.
