Objective: To identify, from the perspective of professionals, the references used in their practices in the field of Early Intervention, evidence-based practices are used and what are the challenges related to professional training. Method: Cross-sectional, descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative and quantitative approach, developed in two stages. Results: In the first stage, 95 professionals were identified, from 15 different specialties, working in nine Early Intervention services. In the second stage, professionals from four selected services participated, who described the use of various theoretical frameworks, as well as difficulties in accessing continuing education and scientific knowledge that underlie evidence-based practices. Final considerations: Professional training and access and use of updated references are difficulties faced by professionals in the field of Early Intervention. Thus, there is the importance of promoting the qualification of the technical staff of the services for work based on scientific knowledge, enhancing the adoption of evidence-based practices.
