Abstract

BORGES, Vera  and  FARIA, Ivan. Youth, training and artistic markets: Two contsxts in Portugal and Brazil. CIDADES [online]. 2015, n.30, pp.42-54. ISSN 2182-3030.  https://doi.org/10.7749/citiescommunitiesterritories.jun2015.030.art04.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the processes of formation, professional and social inclusion of young people in the cultural market of Salvador, Bahia, and compare it with the findings of the survey in Portuguese context with young actors and dancers. Data analysis shows that the art scene has mobilized dreams and expectations among young people, particularly in the areas of music and dance. Governments have created institutions and courses in the arts sector (integrated and subsequent to secondary education, training), but this offer is contrasted with very high dropout rates. As for employability, labor markets are marked by uncertainty of recognition and remuneration, mobilizing strategies for raising levels of education, creation of social networks, but also migrations in search of work.

Keywords : youth; artistic training; artwork; cultural market.
