NAJMAN, Mercedes. «I did not want to be uprooted after so many struggles»: a study from the spatial mobility approach about the configuration of the territorial anchorage in a disputed area. CIDADES [online]. 2020, n.41, pp.223-242. ISSN 2182-3030.  https://doi.org/10.15847/cct.21017.

As a corollary of a long process of struggle carried out by a group of occupying households of the so-called Traza de la ex AU3 (City of Buenos Aires), a group of social housing was recently built and enabled the territorial establishment of these households in a disputed area. Throughout this process, the slogans of rejection of displacement and the right to settle rested mainly on the defense of the territorial roots of the occupying homes. This article proposes a study from the spatial mobility approach on the processes of territorial anchoring configuration. Through a quantitative analysis of longitudinal biographical surveys carried out on the occupant households that were recipients of the social housing, their residential trajectories and daily mobility were reconstructed with the purpose of investigating the role that this territory played on their geographical repertoires. The results show the relevance that this territory assumes on mobility practices, making visible emotional and functional territorial anchors. But at the same time, mobility practices show a strongly active role of the subjects on the configuration of this space. In this sense, through their residential routes and their daily trips, these homes empowered the neighborhood as a locational capital and at the same time claimed their presence in a disputed territory.
