Resumen

NDOMBELE, Eduardo David. Reflexão sobre as línguas nacionais no sistema de educação em Angola. RILP [online]. 2017, vol.31, pp.69-87.  Epub 28-Jul-2021. ISSN 2182-4452.  https://doi.org/10.31492/2184-2043.rilp2017.31/pp.71-89.

Language is the identity vector of a community. From this perspective, language is part of a set of social belongings and it is a reference to the individual in the social group in which he lives. In the case of Angola, about 90% of Angolans are of Bantu origin and possess this linguistic belonging. However, even after the conquest of its independence in 1975, Angola adopted Portuguese as the official language. Therefore, schooling is done only in Portuguese language – in other words, the education system is monolingual. In accordance with this understanding, in this study, it was necessary to make a characterization of the Angolan languages in order to analyze the variety of Portuguese spoken in Angola and in particular in some cities of the Uíge province. With the analysis of the theoretical and empirical data, it was concluded that the use and practice of the national languages in Angola are fundamental for a redefinition of the linguistic policies in the National System of Education.

Palabras clave : National languages; Angola; Bilingualism.
