Mozambique is a multilingual country where Bantu, Portuguese, Gujarati, Hindi and Arabic languages coexist. Portuguese is the official language and is compulsory in education and public institutions, but it creates impasses because citizens do not master the European standard. In turn, the Portuguese of Mozambique (PM) is a variety that results from sociolinguistic contexts and cultural diversity. In this context, the present research discusses the situation of the PM taking into account the social variables and explains the lexical-semantic and syntactic characteristics. Having rotated the data in GoldVarb 2001, it was concluded that the PM manifests itself more visibly at the phonetic and lexical-semantic level. In addition, it has been observed that foreign languages from bantu languages are necessary. Overall, Portuguese is a Mozambican language spoken by the minority as a mother tongue (10.7%) and it tends to grow due to free, compulsory and inclusive education, encouraged by language policy.
