Resumen

BAVO, Názia  y  COELHO, Orquídea. Ensino e aprendizagem do português (L2/LE) por alunos surdos em Moçambique. RILP [online]. 2021, vol.40, pp.119-140.  Epub 25-Feb-2022. ISSN 2182-4452.  https://doi.org/10.31492/2184-2043.rilp2021.40/pp.119-140.

On inclusive education for the deaf in Mozambique, it is necessary to debate the teaching of the Portuguese language, whose bilingual approach advocates the teaching / learning of sign language (LS) as a first language (L1) and Portuguese (LP) as a second language (L2). This excerpt from a doctoral study aims to highlight the importance of early exposure of deaf children to an LS, in this case, Sign Language of Mozambique (LSM), and to highlight the need for the teaching of LP to be adequate, respecting the methodology and didactics of L2 for deaf students. According to a qualitative approach, we applied the method of observation / registration of classes and semi-structured interviews to deaf students in regular classes. The results indicate: a) the lack of timely exposure of the deaf to LSM, prevents the acquisition of a structured language and negatively conditions the learning of L2; b) the LP teacher, in addition to language skills in both languages (LP and LSM), must have extra linguistic skills, to exercise his didactic-pedagogical role in a bilingual educational perspective for deaf students.
